As the first edition of the academic year, this issue features details on upcoming activities and valuable information on scholarships, awards, and internships. Plus, we introduce an inspiring student-led organization that’s making a real impact in the field. Discover ways to get involved, connect, and support our vibrant marketing community. Welcoming our New Department Chair
This year, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Bulent Menguc as the Department of Marketing Chair!
After earning his doctoral degree in 1994, Bulent has held academic and leadership roles across several countries, including New Zealand (Lincoln University), Australia (University of Melbourne), Canada (Brock University), the United Kingdom (King’s College London and Leeds University Business School), and Turkey (Kadir Has University and Ozyegin University). He joined ISU in July 2025.
During his tenure at Brock University, he was awarded the Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence. Over the years, he has also taken on numerous leadership positions, serving as Department Chair and Founding Dean at Kadir Has University, as well as Department Chair at Leeds University Business School.
Bulent has taught a broad array of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Strategic Marketing, Business-to-Business Marketing, Marketing Research, and Sales Management. His research focuses on selling and salesforce management, the frontline employee–customer interface, market-focused management, and multilevel research methods. His work has appeared in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of International Business Studies, and Journal of Operations Management.
He remains actively engaged in the academic community. He currently serves as an Area Editor for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Research, and sits on the editorial review boards of several other journals.

Welcoming our New Faculty
Join us in welcoming Dr. Amit Mahimkar to our faculty!
Amit Mahimkar completed his MBA from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and recently earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Texas at El Paso. He brings over 15 years of professional experience in client services and quality management. His research interests include B2B Marketing, Services Marketing, Relationship Marketing, and Customer Success Management. Amit is a published researcher and has presented his work at the American Marketing Association and other leading academic conferences. He also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for the European Journal of Marketing and the International Journal of Conflict Management.

Our Semester So Far
Distinguished Speaker Series Panel | September 9, 2025: Over 45 students participated in the Distinguished Speaker Series panel, where seven corporate professionals shared career fair success tips, progression advice, and internship opportunities, even for freshmen and sophomores.
Enterprise Mobility Panel | September 18, 2025: Around 80 students attended an Enterprise Mobility panel, where leaders shared career advice and emphasized that every manager begins in the Management Trainee role which is a great opportunity for juniors.
Networking and Golf Mixer | September 19, 2025: More than 50 students attended the mixer, walking away with internship and job interview connections while boosting their confidence for future career fairs. Many students shared that this event made networking feel easier and more approachable!

Upcoming Opportunities
Gallagher Headquarters Visit | October 3, 2025 from 8 am – 4 pm: Join for a visit to Gallagher Headquarters, featuring a company overview, office tour, free lunch, and a panel with ISU alumni and young professionals. Students of all grade levels can explore internship and full-time opportunities in sales, marketing, finance, risk management, and more. For further details, contact Maddie Johnson!
Marketing Department & Sales Institute fall Career Fair | October 8, 2025 | Brown Ballroom:
- 1 pm to 2:30 pm – A reverse career fair – This is available only to juniors and seniors interested in B2B sales. Instead of visiting each employer’s table, employers will circulate to meet with students directly. Find more information HERE!
- 3 pm to 6 pm – Traditional career fair – Students of all class years are encouraged to attend! Internship opportunities are available to all students, while full-time positions are available specifically for seniors. Find more information HERE!
Distinguished Speaker Series Panel | October 22, 2025 at 6 pm| State Farm Hall of Business Room 357: Students can expect to hear from speakers about prospecting tips for their future. This is the first level of this topic! Free food to follow!
IMC Career Night Panel Discussion | October 23, 2025 at 6:30 pm | State Farm Hall of Business 139: An interactive panel discussion with recent ISU graduates from the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) and Analytics sequences. All undergraduate students are encouraged to attend as panelists will be sharing details about their college trajectories as well as suggestions about how to maximize one’s time at ISU and stand out in a competitive job market.
RHM Case Competition | October 24, 2025: Test your skills in the RHM Case Competition, where students work in teams to solve a real-world business challenge and present their solutions to industry professionals for valuable experience. If looking to get involved, contact Mike Boehm!

ADM Case Competition | November 7, 2025: Participants can gain hands-on experience, showcase their skills, and compete for recognition while connecting with peers and industry professionals.
- NEW! – Networking with Employers Challenge: This networking event follows the case competition and is a great way for students to gain confidence when networking. For more information contact Mike Boehm!
Infra-Metals Case Competition | November 14, 2025: Test your skills in the Infra-Metals Case Competition, where students work in teams to solve a real-world business challenge and present their solutions to industry professionals for valuable experience. - Delta Sigma Pi is a professional co-ed business fraternity focused on personal and professional development.
- Prepares business students for successful careers while instilling values of service and leadership.
- Part of an international network with 300,000+ initiates worldwide.
- Membership benefits continue beyond graduation with networking, service, and professional development opportunities.
- The Iota Chi chapter at Illinois State University was founded in 1980 and is the oldest professional business fraternity on campus.
- At ISU, the chapter has been active for 45 years, with 1,500+ initiates, 59 active members, and 12 recognitions.
